ABS is plastic is made using oil to based materials and has a higher melting point than PLA. ABS plastic is also more durable and stronger. The plastic is bendable, to a certain extent, and hardens quickly. This material is perfect if you want to draw in the air. This plastic works perfectly for beginners. You can start with ABS and then move on to PLA.

Melting temperature is 215 to 230°C.

Colors: red, blue, green, cayenne, silver, gold, transparent, pink, chocolate, purple, orange, maroon, white, yellow, light green, black, brown, and gray.

PLA

PLA is made from plant to based resources and is biodegradable. It is called ‘the green plastic’ as it uses materials such as sugar cane and cornstarch. PLA plastic can be easily reheated and reshaped.

Melting temperature is 190 to 220°C.

Colors: red, blue, green, light green, yellow, cayenne, black, silver, chocolate, orange, gold, transparent, white, pink, pink to cream, and purple.

GLOW IN THE DARK

As the name implies, this material glows in the dark after you expose to a light source. You can use this for making holiday decorations, from Christmas tree decorations to glowing Jack to o’ to Lantern for Halloween. This material is available in both PLA and ABS plastic.

Melting temperature of Glowing ABS is 190 to 200°C.

Melting temperature of Glowing PLA is 180 to 190°C.

Colors: ABS green, ABS blue, ABS red, ABS yellow, ABS purple, PLA blue, PLA green, and PLA yellow.

FLEXIBLE

Flexible is made from PLA plastic. This filament is flexible and tough, and does not produce plastic fumes. Using Flexible, you can get better detail. However, it can lose its shape due to heat. This is a perfect material for items that bend.

Melting temperature is 195 to 205°C.

Colors: red, green, and white.

WOOD

Wood is an amalgam of PLA plastic and composites of real wood. Besides its efficiency, this material smells great. Keep in mind that it is a fragile material and you have to layer it to enhance structural integrity. You can sand and stain it and also use it for filling cracks in wooden objects. You can use it the same way as you use wood.

Melting temperature is 170 to 180°C.

Colors: pine imitation, oak imitation, and walnut imitation.

METAL

This material has a metallic look, made from PLA Plastic. The plastic thread contains natural copper or bronze in a clay substrate, and produces a matte finish. You can achieve shine by sanding and polishing. Like wood, you have to layer Metal to make it hold.

Melting temperature is 200 to 220°C.

Colors: bronze imitation, cooper imitation.

BRIGHT

Bright is an environmentally friendly material made from PLA plastic. It offers better detailing than other filaments without producing plastic fumes. The appearance is shiny and smooth, though it is less sturdier than ABS and may lose its shape due to heat exposure.

Melting temperature is 200 to 220°C.

Colors: bright green, bright blue, bright red, bright maroon, bright white, and bright black.
